Master Program in Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics (BFG)
The Master Program in Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics (BFG) is intended for those students that want to use Bioinformatics, applying advanced concepts and techniques offered by Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics, to tackle and answer real biological questions. The course will walk through general concepts of Biology and Biotechnology highlighting recent advancements, demonstrating how it is possible to integrate and support biological data to answer question performing precise investigations by Next Generation Sequencing technologies and other cutting-edge technologies.
The course will provide the bases for the sophisticated mathematical and statistical concepts necessary to understand and take advantage of tools available in Data Science. The Big Data already available will be exploited and integrated using an ensemble of Data Science strategies, techniques, and tools. The student will develop skills to manage unstructured data, programming with modern languages, exploit cloud-based technologies and communicate results developing modern web applications.

13. Legal and Ethical Aspects of Science and Technology
14. Network Analysis and Gene Enrichments
15. Next Generation Sequencing
16. Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis
17. Statistical Analysis of Omic Data
18. Statistics/machine Learning/data Mining
19. Structural Biology
20. Techniques and Programming Tools for Image Analysis
21. Theory of Image Analysis and Microscopy
The BFG Master is delivered by the University of Milan in partnership with IFOM ETS - The AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology and it is open to students of several and different backgrounds, ranging from Informatics to Biotechnologies.
