Generation of a Triadin KnockOut Syndrome zebrafish model
Triadin KnockOut Syndrome (TKOS) is a genetic arrhythmogenic disorder caused by mutation in the TRDN gene, encoding for Triadin. In this work we generated a zebrafish TKOS model and characterized the heart and skeletal muscle phenotype.
A ligand-insensitive UNC5B splicing isoform regulates angiogenesis by promoting apoptosis
In this work, we used zebrafish to demonstrate that vascular defects observed in unc5b-MO embryos are dependent to the reduction of apoptosis in endothelial cells.
ALS: ubiquitin is key to maintaining neuronal integrity
By combining advanced biophysical models and the use of the fruit fly, a model organism that is easily manipulated at the genetic level, a group of researchers from IFOM in Milan in collaboration with the University of Milan has discovered an enzyme responsible for a specific molecular mechanism underlying the onset of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
