BioMeTra Seminars 2019/2020
"Atypical Chemokine Receptors: From Silence to Sound. The ACKR2 case" is the title of the next seminar of the cycle "BioMeTra Seminars 2019/2020" will take place on July 9th 2020 at 2:30 pm on line
Focus on
Relationship between Influenza Vaccination Coverage Rate and COVID-19 Outbreak: An Italian Ecological Study.
During the lockdown period, Italian regions with a higher influenza vaccination coverage rate in people aged 65 and over showed a lower number of infections, as well as a lower number of patients hospitalized with symptoms, or hospitalized in intensive care units or dead for causes attributable to COVID-19.
HDAC8: a promising therapeutic target for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
Low level of acetylation due to high expression of Histone deacetylases (HDACs) is observed in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In this work we demonstrated that forced expression of HDAC8 in zebrafish embryos induced an imbalance of haematopoiesis that can be rescued with a specific HDAC8 inhibitor.
Revealing in the primary cilium a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of Rett syndrome
We demonstrate in cellular and animal models of Rett syndrome (RTT) the occurrence of defects of primary cilium, a sensory antenna protruded by all vertebrate cells. Drugs acting at the primary cilium can improve some defects typical of RTT. Although we don’t want to define RTT as a ciliopathy we propose the primary cilium as a pharmacological target for novel therapeutic approaches.
